Covid-19 Relief Efforts

Information about

Our Covid-19
Relief Efforts

Lockdown meant no economic activity and no income generation for many people. People with disabilities were among those most affected as many of them are venders, cross-border traders and beggars. Thus, they live from hand-to-mouth.

With no source of income, many people with disabilities had no access to food.

In may, We  began assisting people with disabilities in Dzivarasekwa after recieving a request for assistance from one of the target benefiaries of our home rennovation projects.

We  distributed 10 food hampers on our first visit. We then delivered 50 bags of mealie meal on our second and thid visits. We also distributed sugar beans and sanitary wear on some of these visits.

Lockdown has ended

So, What's
Next?

Our next steps are in line with the theme for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2020:
Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World.

As a sense of normalcy returns to Zimbabwe, we are now focused on helping people with disabilities make a come back.

We recognise that many of them are still in need of food assistance. So, we are going to continue distributing food to people with disabilities in Dzivarasekwa.

Beyond this, we plan to help them start income generating projects and resume the accessible housing project in Dzivarasekwa.
